I’m fascinated by dreams.

Actually, no, I’m interested in dreams and fascinated by the google search results that provide “insight” into what dreams mean.  I have weird and vivid dreams so I look up their potential meanings often. As a therapist, we might say “how did that dream make you feel?” and go from there to investigate the inner emotion that is probably more helpful than unpacking what it meant to walk around with fire coming out of your ass but it felt cold in the dream rather than hot. You know what I’m saying? Anyways... That part does not fascinate me. I can pretty much understand the emotion but the part about the cold fire coming from an unusual place is the part - like, what?!

Last night I had a dream that a child in a gray hoodie was sitting on the floor in a corner of every space I went into, hood up, head down resting on his knees, being rained on, with his back to me and refusing to move. So, there’s that part that was actually just a subtle part of the dream - but what I woke up remembering the most. There was also a human that was the size of my open hand and kept falling from my hand (or maybe I kept dropping him?) Every time I tried to pick the human up, they morphed into a different human.

The night before last night I dreamed that I wore my slippers outside and didn’t notice a puddle of water I was standing in until my slippers were sopping wet.

Water - probably something about being overwhelmed. I have been incredibly overwhelmed by mostly non-therapy stuff going on with work. So, I get all that. But when I researched what “child in corner wet” means I got the following results:

  • “Symbolic that my inner baby does not feel safe”

  • “Dreams about water are symbolic of your emotions during your waking life”

  • “It could be a symbol of cleansing and becoming more in touch with a greater purpose and emotions/spiritual thoughts”

This part is fascinating to me because I am a spiritual person and find meaning in most things. But dreams being up to interpretation and having such vastly different meanings depending on what is searched, the details added or not added, or just the different perspectives on the significance of water is fascinating to me. You know what I’m saying?
